Overview

The government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Agriculture has constructed an aggregation and storage facility for grains and other farm produce at Mundika Stores. Mundika Stores is found in Mundika sublocation,Bukhayo West location,Matayos sub county,Busia County.

This facility is located 1kilometre off Kisumu-Busia highway. It occupies one acre, adjacent to Mundika youth development centre. It comprises of three rooms that act as the administration block, one huge storage space, parking lot constructed to host two average vehicles, a gate, a chain-link fence, a 5000Lt water tank, and an abolution block housing 3 bathrooms and three pit latrines.In addition, the facility comes with a John Deere tractor, a seven ton trailer, and a ten ton Mecmar mobile drier procured from 14 Life Spolka Limited.A weighing machine,and an aflatoxin machine are also available at the facility.

The Ministry of Agriculture handed the facility to the community for use on twenty ninth of November2024, with a promise of doing additional installation of cabros.The cabro works are ongoing and expected to be complete by February 2026. Any other support from the ministry has not yet been specified. However they encouraged the community to open up a cooperative society that is now in charge of the facility, and a management committee put in place to determine how the facility will be
put into proper use so that it does not become another white elephant.
Baridi Kwa Baridi Women CBO was on site having been handed over the facility as caretakers,but currently,Mundika Nafaka Farmers has procured the services of an office assistant who is on site now as secretariat.

  2. Aims at eliminating exploitative middlemen that take advantage of farmers inadequacies, desperations, ignorance on market trends and prices, by linking them direct to markets.
  3. Offer marketing services at competitive prices that maximizes profits.
    Provide knowledge and demos to farmers.
  4. Bring farm inputs closer to farmers.
  5. Provide transportation services to members.
  6. Provide mechanization to members.
  7. Provide room for value additions.
  8. Offer credit facilities to farmers and members.
  9. Any other service outlined in the by laws
